Faith & Reflections

The foundation beneath everything else on this site — faith that does not stay in the pew but shows up at the keyboard, underwater, and on the job.

✝  Why Faith Comes First

Every vocation — Marine, officer, diver, developer — is shaped by something deeper. For me, the anchor is faith. Not as a label, but as a practice: daily prayer, Scripture, and the conviction that all good work is offered to God.

"So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God."

1 Corinthians 10:31

✝  Service as Vocation

The Church teaches that we are called to serve. The Marines taught service to country. Law enforcement taught service to community. Diving teaches service to the ocean and the student. Development teaches service to the people who depend on the systems we build.

"The greatest among you must be your servant."

Matthew 23:11

✝  Discipline and Stewardship

Christian stewardship extends beyond money. It includes time, talent, and the skills God has given us. Writing code that helps catch financial criminals, teaching someone to breathe underwater for the first time — these are acts of stewardship.

"Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more."

Luke 12:48

✝  Courage in Every Depth

The ocean teaches humility — you are a visitor in another world, entirely dependent on your preparation and your equipment. Faith works the same way. Courage is not the absence of fear; it is choosing to enter the water anyway, trusting the One who made it.

"I command you: be strong and steadfast! Do not fear nor be dismayed, for the LORD, your God, is with you wherever you go."

Joshua 1:9
